This hardcover book by Leslie Lee, is an innovative and inspiring fusion of architecture, photographs, poetry, and visionary philosophy.
Sacred Space, Pine Hollow is a book that celebrates the Northwest Lower Michigan's geography and culture as it is reflected in vernacular architecture. Lee, with architect Roger A. Hummel and hundreds of the area’s finest craftspeople, built the incredible Pine Hollow—which comprises a house, barn and grounds—to last the ages. The seven-acre site includes six hundred feet of Lake Michigan shoreline, dunes, woods, prairie and meadow. The luminous photography of Hedrich Blessing of Chicago, Nancy Crafts of Sausalito, and local Ken Scott saturate the pages that are captioned by the twenty-two stanza poem by Leslie Lee.
Lee hopes the book will introduce this property to the world, and her poetry will inspire others to always strive for a better future.
